Monday
On Mondays, Marine Option Midshipmen conduct their tactical training. Over the course of the year, this training progresses from briefs to the practical application of subjects like Land Navigation, the Five Paragraph Operation Order, and Fireteam/Squad Tactics. All of these subjects are then incorporated into the semester’s FEX, as they are all evaluated at Officer Candidates School.
Tuesday
Tuesdays are for Battalion Drill. This period from 0700 to 0900 is used to deliver mandatory training, invite guest speakers either from the university or the Navy, or practice drill.
Wednesday
There typically isn’t scheduled training on Wednesdays. Midshipmen use this day to catch up on their schoolwork. Plenty of Midshipmen, however, will still be around Maury, studying, working out, or relaxing in the lounge.
Thursday
On Thursdays, all Midshipmen participate in morning physical training (PT). The Midshipman Physical Training Instructor designs and leads the workout with guidance from his or her staff counterpart. The goal of morning PT is not only to develop Midshipmen physically, but also to build comradery.
Friday
On Friday mornings in the Fall, Fourth Class Midshipmen will be taught the conduct of drill. These periods of instruction build on the knowledge taught at New Student Orientation and culminate in a drill demonstration on Family Weekend.
